The Emancipation Proclamation was issued on January 1, 1863. It said, &8220Slaves at bottom any state, or designated air division of a state&8230then&8230in rebellion, &8230shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free. This proclamation was the main cause of creating the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This was important because flat there was a bigger sense of peace in the midst of the slaves, and the concourse that once owned them.
